So today, after going over 563 km on a tank of gas, and patiently waiting for the prices to go back down to “normal”, I ventured over to my local gasoline purveyor to fill up my tank. I got there, and for once it was actually busy! This particular location typically isn’t that busy during the week, but today it was. At any rate, I noticed a pump free on the other side, so I drove through and turned right, angling towards this pump. I paused for a moment when I saw another car nearby, as I wasn’t sure what he wanted to do (he was far enough away that I thought he was driving away from the pumps.) So I carried on in my turn, and swung around to the pump. Suddenly I hear a horn honk, so I look around quickly to see what was going on, and it’s buddy in his car, who has now got his car in reverse gear, and is waving his arm at me out his window. He was attempting to back up to the pump I was at! Because he doesn’t know how to manoeuvre his beast of a car, he had pulled waaaaaaaaaay out in order to back in to the pump. (Aside: Give me a break, if you don’t know how to drive your own car, maybe you should get something smaller. But I digress here.) Since I was in a nice mood, I told him to hang on a second, since the person at the pump ahead of me was leaving, so I was able to pull through and he could continue backing up to the pump. When he got out, he commented “You snuck in there pretty fast.” (he said this somewhat snarkily, but not enough to get my hackles up.) “Not really,” I replied, as I started pumping the gas. “I’ve just got a smaller car.” I smiled sweetly and batted my eyelashes at this dude, and turned back around.
This type of thing happens all the time at the gas pumps, it’s nothing new, it was just funny in this case because the man in the other car was so far away that there was no way I could have thought he was possibly backing up to the pump. No way. But what’s even funnier is that there were 3 other pumps he could have gone to much easier than that one. I guess at this point he was just making a point, but whatever. At this point I don’t care because I was able to purchase gas today for 119.2 cents instead of the crazy 138.5 on the weekend. Phew.

That’s hilarious!
