Living life while trying to pay down your debts can sometimes be a little boring or stressful. You don’t get to go out much, or have dinner out in restaurants as often as you’d like, or sometimes you’re even restricting yourself from seeing your friends, for fear you’ll overspend your money. I am of the mind however, that sometimes
you just need to spend the money.
Yes, sometimes you just need to take the plunge and spend a little money to live a little. Now I’m not talking you break the bank of course, as you are still trying to pay off your debts, but a little splurge will make you feel better about things and life.
I decided to buy myself a cute little Nintendo DS, as I’ve been wanting one for a while. And the good thing is that for all the little things that I’ve been wanting, there’s a corresponding savings account. Sure, there might not be a lot of money in them (my Games savings account only had about $35 in it), but the point is, I’ve got savings for these little things. This helps alleviate any guilt I may be feeling when I do spend money on something instead of applying it to my debt reduction. But I feel that a little psychological boost is sometimes needed.
Of course I went a little overboard in my splurging and decided to purchase a plane ticket, last minute, to go visit a friend of mine on the West Coast, but that’s another story.
